id Software slashes the prices for Wolfenstein and Doom games on iOS

Quakecon kicked off yesterday, and to celebrate the occasion, id Software has decided to slash the prices of its classic FPS games that are available on iOS devices. It's no surprise that id Software is a huge fan of the platform, with all of its mobile games only available on it at the moment. Not to mention, it seems to be the only platform worth developing for, according to a previous poll John Carmack did at last year's Quakcon.

While you won't be getting Rage at a discounted price (you've probably purchased the game by now), you'll be able to relive those MS-DOS days of blasting pixilated monsters and Nazis away with your whole assortment of guns. If you weren't playing DOOM or Wolfenstein as a kid, then here's your chance to enjoy what you missed out.

Wolfenstein 3D Classic Platinum is now available for $0.99 (was $1.99), DOOM Classic $1.99 (was $6.99), DOOM II RPG $0.99 (was $3.99) and DOOM Resurrection $1.99 (was $6.99). No word on how long these discounts will last, but you should probably take advantage of it while you can.

Ghost Recon: Future Soldier – Gunsmith Trailer

A new trailer ‘Gunsmith' for the upcoming Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has just been released by Ubisoft. You could check it out after the break. As mentioned before, this tactical shooter video game is scheduled to hit PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, NDS and PSP in Q1, 2012.

Full list of Nintendo 3DS games announced at E3

As many of you already know, the 3DS is having a hard time moving units after its initial launch. Whether that is because of headaches from the 3D, the expensive $250 price tag or lack of must-have games, Nintendo big E3 plan for the 3DS was to kill the drought of games. Although some impressive games were demoed, they still felt like very typical Nintendo-esque games – meaning games that are geared towards appealing to everyone as opposed to those that are for the hardcore like Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty.

Upcoming 3DS firmware update glitches Ridge Racer 3D

Are you looking forward to the Nintendo 3DS' upcoming firmware update that's going to bring to tons of new features, including a web browser, Virtual Console and the eShop? If you're a Ridge Racer 3D fan, you might not be to happy to hear that the new firmware causes a glitch in the game.

For Nintendo's official statement on the matter, head on past the break. As anybody who read our Nintendo 3DS Review knows, I'm a huge fan of Ridge Racer, and the 3DS version was pretty solid. A freezing glitch, no matter how small it is needs to be fixed – fast.

Accompanying the system update available on June 6, it has been confirmed that under certain circumstances when making a selection before the race starts in “Grand Prix” in “Single Play” mode of the Ridge Racer 3D game, the screen sometimes freezes. If you do not install the system update at this time, the symptom will not occur.

We apologize for any inconvenience. We will have a system update in mid-June that should take care of this matter.

In Ridge Racer 3D, pressing the B Button to return from Race Selection or Machine Selection may cause the screen to freeze. If the screen does freeze, please press and hold the Power button and turn the system off then retry. There should be no impact to the save data.

Nintendo says that a fix is in the works but won't be available until the middle of this month. Ouch! Make it snappy Ninty! Please!

Wappy Dog brings new meaning to the word 3D for the Nintendo 3DS

So you actually decided to drop some serious coin for the Nintendo 3DS, and want to maximize your 3D experience on it? Well, this unique game that will be released for Nintendo's latest gaming platform will offer unprecedented levels of 3D gaming – after all, Wappy Dog itself will sport a real life plastic dog accessory with speakers built right into it, amking the entire experience all the more realistic.

This might just be the next evolution of the hugely popular Nintendogs. Developed by Activision, this upcoming pet sim title will let you interact with a virtual representation of Wappy Dog, who does seem to be a resemblance of the now discontinued Sony AIBO. The physical Wappy Dog will feature touch sensors, a microphone as well as Wi-Fi connectivity to “talk” to the 3DS, letting you interact with it both in real life as well as in the game.

At least this is one robotic toy that you need not bring out for walks, and there is no real poop to pick up after and kennel to wash. Capable of recognizing up to 18 different voice prompts, it will be out later this holiday season. Seems set to be a bestseller, no?
