Nintendo 3DS offers free Wi-Fi access in the US

Who would have thought that one day, you will be able to access the Internet on a handheld console? That surely wasn't the case when the Game Boy Color came out, featuring blocky graphics with the wave of Pokemon to push sales of the device to unprecedented highs back then. Well, fast forward to today and you have the Nintendo 3DS that has Wi-Fi connectivity support in order for wireless multiplayer gaming. To make sure that the Wi-Fi flag continues flying, Nintendo has made sure that they will work with Simon Property Group, the country's largest owner, developer and manager of high-quality retail real estate, in order to offer Nintendo 3DS owners free wireless connections. This is applicable to nearly 200 Simon shopping malls around the US, in addition to over 1,000 Best Buy stores' Wi-Fi hotspots, not to mention an expanded agreement with AT&T that lets Nintendo 3DS owners access nearly 24,000 of AT&T's Wi-Fi hotspots, too.

Now you can bring your multiplayer gaming with you wherever you go, at least in so many locations, you need not worry about a dropped signal any more. Of course, there is always the option of using your smartphone to function as a wireless hotspot, and accessing the Internet from there so that you can get your game on with the rest of your mates.
