Well, good news PSN users. Just this week Sony announced that the PlayStation Store would be back before the week was out and, despite the fact that the company missed its original end-of-May goal, the company has made good on this promise, and the store is back online.
Last night, Grace Chen, Director of the PlayStation Store, took to the PlayStation blog to announce that the PlayStation Store is back online. Not too long after Chen's announcement, Sony published an official press release confirming that PSN services had been restored for customers in the Americas, Europe/PAL territories and Asia (excluding Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea).
However, while the PlayStation Store is back online and users can now shop to their hearts content, the 'Welcome Back' packages so many are waiting for have yet to be released. When Sony announced the user compensation program last month, the company said they would become available when the PlayStation Store was back up. However, Grace Chen today said that the 'Welcome Back' pack was not yet ready.
"You may have noticed that the content promised as part of the Welcome Back offer is not yet live," Chen wrote. "It is currently in the final stages of testing and will be available to download soon; we'll be sure to let you know when."
